Dear Thea,
Hi sweetheart. You're ten months old today. Hooray! You also have your first ear infection. It's very common for kids to get ear infections, so it's actually pretty amazing that you've made it this far without having one. You're extremely uncomfortable and have been crying all day. That's how we knew you were really sick, though, instead of just a little fussy. You almost never cry, so we knew immediately something was up and were able to take you to the doctor right away and get medicine to make you well. What a clever baby you are!
In the last month, you've learned how to drink from a sippy cup, and can say "cat," "mama," "dada," and "uh oh." And "hi," of course. You can also clap your hands, point, wave bye-bye, and pet the cats -- Jasper Merle, Carrie Fisher, and Grace -- very nicely. Your favorite foods are cereal, peas, and Cheerios (though we give you a kind from the health food store without any sugar). You don't seem to crazy about chicken, though. Maybe you'll like it better when it isn't ground up and jarred.
Today Emmaly was born. We hope you'll be as good friends as your parents are.
Your mommy and daddy love you very much!
Much love,
Mommy

Thea's first word
Hi sweetie,
I think you said your first word! You said "Hi!" to the woman behind the register at the grocery store. She said, "Well, aren't you a clever girl?" and she and the woman behind us thought you were the cutest thing ever. You smiled really big and giggled.
Here are some pictures from yesterday:

I love you,
Mommy
