Both kids have strep throat. Liam has been throwing up, too, and can't keep the medicine down. Poor kid. We'll try a different antibiotic as soon as the doctor can call it in. If he can't keep that down, either, it means a shot for Liam.
Otherwise, though, the kids feel pretty good. I helped Thea get into her bathing suit to play in the yard with the hose and the dog yesterday. She's so active you'd have a hard time guessing she's sick.

Sorry they're sick, but they are still do dang cute.
Awwww .... hope everyone's feeling better soon!
Strep -- used to be nasty stuff! However did you figure out it was more than just a sore throat? I suppose with today's antibiotics, it's not such a bad deal. Barbaric story -- my parents treated strep by swabbing our throats with iodine. They didn't have much trust for medical people. Wonder we survived childhood.
Thanks! Nonna, I'm glad you asked; I was quite proud of myself for asking for a strep test, because the kids' symptoms were somewhat vague and the doctor couldn't tell by looking. But 90% of the kids at a party last Monday came down with strep, so I guess there was no great detective work after all.
It's highly contagious. (Parents can get it too). But you provided the doc with a key piece of info, without which she probably would not (under managed care protocols) have ordered the strep test. Strep requires a culture, not just a quick look through the scope, so it costs more and we all know what that means. I suppose after awhile it becomes automatic to pick up on the little things relating to your child/ren, but even so, good mom work!
i think we have to name last week's party. it certainly wasn't an intentional infection party (you know, how some moms put their kids together when one has chicken pox so that they all get through it at once). but man, something happened that day :-)
hoping your kids are feeling better. mine are pretty much back to normal (except that they LOVE bubblegum-flavored amoxicillin. they would stay on it forever if they could.)
I would blog about my kids being infected on my site, but I risk my sister and dad reading about it before they come back from their cycling trip to Italy. I'm hoping that they stay well the entire time and their brief exposure to Rosie (who was neither confirmed positive nor negative for strep) didn't affect them at all. Please.
