Liam's first day in a new class

Today is Liam's first full day in a new class at daycare. They had planned on using this whole week to transition him from the toddler room to the 2's-and-3's room, the pre-pre-K room where kids learn things like their ABCs, colors, and how to count. But the teachers said that he moved from one room to the other yesterday after the morning snack and pretty much never looked back. When I picked the kids up, all the teachers congratulated me on what a good boy Liam is. It's nice to hear, of course, but he'd still be a great kid even if he had trouble transitioning.

Thea just left that class a couple weeks ago. The teachers say she's one of the littlest ones in the pre-K class, but she's keeping up just fine. It's amazing to see how fast her writing skills are developing. Here she is showing Liam the ropes in her old room:

One of the best parts of Liam being in the new class is that he and Thea get to hang out together in the morning for an hour or so in the pre-K room before the teachers get to his new class. As I left, she was showing him where her favorite blocks were. I told her to take good care of her brother. She gave him a quick hug and said, "I will, Mommy, don't worry!" *sniff*

It's all very exciting.

I love those rooms! They're so brightly colored, stimulating and fun. I wish that was where I spent all day.

Have some excellent fun, little Os!
