I took the kids to get their flu shots yesterday, though everything got completely effed up. It's a long story that will interest no one and ends with two hysterical kids, a teary doctor, and orange juice pooling in my bra.
Suffice it to say, I'm never taking the kids to get shots at the same time again. At least not for several years. We were all traumatized by the experience. Thea was the only one who could get her shot and had to be held tightly by an off-duty doctor for it. She was crying and screaming "NO NO NO!" This freaked Liam out, who started wailing "THEA THEA NO THEA MAAMAAAAA!"
Dear god.

i am sooooooo sorry. and now, i'm questioning the wisdom of scheduling my kids together... jools is pretty brave (although he has to get two other shots on thursday, so we'll see how brave he still is). BC on the other hand is a nightmare when it comes to shots. i'm sure she'll teach him to be very, very afraid.
i'm so sorry. i'm also intrigued, though, by the orange juice. i usually end up with graham cracker crumbs, myself ;-) although someone managed to once stuff a sticker from the doctor's office there as well...

I liked this movie better when it was called "Lorenzo's Oil."
Just kidding. I hated that movie, but best trailer EVAR! You didn't even have to see the movie; it was all there in a two-minute trailer.
Kids are real sensitive like when they see siblings in what they percieve to be a painful/scary situation. I'm certain this will all change when they hit adolescence and hate eachother's effing guts. At that point, feel free to have the doctor administer flu shots while covered in fake blood and wearing a hockey mask.
Yeah, in retrospect, I shouldn't have taken both kids at the same time, obviously. But, oi, the scheduling is a pain in the ass.
I'm hoping the kids stay close, united against their common oppressors (me and their dad).
We sooooo never take the kids together. They're evil on a good day.
Sucks that you had a sucky day. :(
Thanks, man. It did suck, yea verily.
Aw, poor tykes. Shots are so scary for some kids. My older sister was terrified of them and I always had to go first to be the 'brave one.' Now needles don't bother me at all, even though I have virtually invisible veins and they always have to dig around. Good thing I decided against becoming a heroin addict.
Blink
Blink, blink
Wow
Stunned and feeling the need to hug you and give you coffee and chocolate
I don't fear the needle, either, so I'm kind of surprised at the drama it elicits.
Thanks, Moxie, that would really freaking rock!
Orange juice in the bra? Hmm.. I'm curious.
I always take the girls together. Our doctor is too far away and too overbooked to warrant multiple trips. And A is very brave. She gives a little wince and then tells Em that everything is okay so Em isn't scared. She rocks.
Been there. I'm taking my two youngest (thankfully teens) next week to get the flu shot. Hope our experience is better.
Well this is a day late and a dollar short. Maybe next year they can do the nasal spray. They'll probably be into shoving stuff up their noses anyway
