Liam's profound lack of sleep over the past several nights (and thus mine, as well) is due to an ear infection, oddly enough in the ear that still has a tube. I wonder if this means he'll need surgery again? I really hope not. But as I was getting ready for work, sobbing overtiredly into a soaked tissue with Thea saying soothingly, "It's alright, Mommy, you're okay. Take a deep breath, you'll be fine," the horrible, morbid thought that Liam might have meningitis popped into my head. So I'm glad it's only an ear infection, even if it means he needs surgery again. And, really, whatever it takes to get us to a respectable amount of sleep is fine by me.

Oh, sweetie, that sucks. I am so sorry. I hope you get some sleep soon!
Thanks, man! Freaking out in front of the kids is so not the parent I want to be.
But it's okay to let them know that you get overwhelmed - you don't have to be perfect parent ... you show them that you can drop your basket, cry, NOT take it out on them, pull it back together and get on with things. This is a GOOD thing to show them.
I am sorry you hit the point of sobbing before work. Been there, done that, the end of the rope is uncomfortable.
Thanks, Dawn, that's a great way of looking at it.
Sleep deprivation is a serious (but hopefully temporary) issue. I'm hoping the doctor is some help when you discuss Liam's sleeping problems?
Not so much, Nonna. I'm hoping that the ear infection will go away and take with it the night wakings. And it is already getting better.
Ear infections in tubed ears is very sad. I hope things get better. For us, they did not and I know that's not what you wanted to hear.
My two cents that you didn't ask for:
Antibiotics AND ear drops like Ciprodex
Moxie, he's on antibiotics, and that has made a world of difference. Finally. Praise jebus.
Olive oil can help relive ear infection
