Sony ripping off artists? Wha?

Have you seen the Sony Bravia ad with the bunnies?

Pretty awesome. L.A. artists Kozyndan think so, too, but there's something about it that seems familiar.

Its hard to think that people at Passion Pictures did not have this early panoramic of ours in mind when they created this new spot for the SONY Bravia line.

To add insult to injury, someone from Passion Pictures contacted us almost two years ago asking to see samples of our work (including this panoramic) as they were interested in working with us. We sent them samples and then heard nothing from them ever again. (It should be noted though, that the more likely culprit is the ad firm who hired Passion Pictures, Fallon)

Incidentally, Kozyndan have some nice prints for sale. We have this one, the bunny version of Hokusai's iconic Great Wave off Kanagawa, hanging outside our upstairs bathroom. It used to be in Thea's room, but I think it kind of gave her the creeps.

Oh wow, that is so very blatant. I hope they do something about it.

Thanks for the cool art link, though. Our walls are mostly naked as if we just moved in yesterday (bad habit of mine...anywhere I live, it looks as if I just moved in or am half moved out). I might snag a piece or two. Cool art at $15, you can't beat that.

I hear you, $15 is a freaking steal.

all the time.

Wait, are you saying that big corporations ROUTINELY screw over artists? What?! My world and my innocence is shattered.

Meh. Not really my favorite Hokusai (probably NSFW). But best of all, it's public domain, so Sony is free to use it for an "homage" in their next freaking weird Playstation 3 ad.

I love The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife, both aesthetically and for its transgressiveness. I can't believe I missed the retrospective of his work when it was in town.

Yes, years later and I'm still complaining about that.

It's been years. Let the tentacle porn go.

He's just not into you.

Thank god.

We had to copy/reproduce a famous painting for a project in high school and I did The great Wave. :)
