Yes, that is excessive! The child will not remember one moment of it. I hope the parents enjoyed themselves!

Dang that SusieJ! That was my thought as well.
I know, right? This morning, though, I had a thought: maybe all the stuff was actually really cool, a way for all the kids to celebrate and welcome their new friend in their own way. And I'm just a grumpy spoilsport who will soon be yelling at kids to git offa mah yard!
