The delightful Grandy suggested I do the "7 things about you in high school" meme. Thank blog. I had no idea what I was going to write about today.
I was a pretty typical teen:
1. I went to three different proms. If you know me at all, you probably find this hard to believe. I'm so not that kind of girl. I wore this dress all three times, and all three dates looked basically the same.
2. Also, my hair was funny-looking.
3. I was in the National Honor Society.
4. I hated high school. HATED it. The only thing that made it bearable was my sister and my friends. And Jim Beam.
5. I broke up with more than one guy by just moving away. I wasn't great with confrontation. (I'm much better now, though, mostly because somewhere along the way I learned that there's a whole world between "doormat" and "blow-out fight".)
6. My favorite band to see live was Econochrist. They were amazing. My favorite album was New Order's Power Corruption, and Lies, and for some reason that seems unfathomable now, I loved Tangerine Dream.
7. My favorite book, and still one of the most influential books I've ever read, was Exile and the Kingdom by Albert Camus.

My prom dress was green. And I really had a mullet then. I'll have to put up a picture.

Sweet pic....here goes:
1. Never went to a single Prom but did manage to attend homecoming twice.
2. Was never in the National Honor Society -- barely graduated but was in FFA my soph year.
3. I had longish hair, parted in the middle (of course).
4. Favorite book was John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath.
5. Favorite performance was Iggy Pop (Soldier Tour) and favorite album was Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures.
6. Devo on SNL changed my world view.
7. Worked at a Comic Book store.
I had to do this....

1. I had the exact same hair style as you...maybe bigger!
2. I only wore one earing...since only one ear was actually visible.
3. I hated school and was forced to attend daily, my dad worked at my school.
4. I moved schools in high school to start over (got tired of the people I grew up with). But I still lived in my old neighborhood.
5. My boyfriend in high school cheated on me, got her pregnant and now that boy is a student of mine.
6. I was not sober most of the time in school.
7. Working in a school at the time was the last thing I ever wanted...hmmm...funny!
I am going to have to do this. Complete with my senior picture even. I love it.
I HATED high school. I feel an instant kinship with anyone like-minded.

The honor society thing does not suprise me at all. Honor society with Jim Beam only makes me love you more.
