As some of you know, we've had the worst time getting Liam to sleep on his own. Those sleepless days were dark, I have to admit. Most of the issues have been resolved, but for the last year or so, one of us has had to stay with him until he fell asleep. Recently, he's been okay with us leaving him to play quietly in his bed by himself until he drifts off. This affords his parents some down-time before we ourselves collapse, so we're grateful.
However, it's a system that is not without its kinks. The other night while Todd was studying for a final and I was taking care of both kids solo, I got a little careless and inadvertently left Liam alone with pens. About an hour past his bedtime, he called me up to show me this:
The worst part was that he tried to hide the evidence by using soggy toilet paper to clean up the ink on his sheets. Still, what a cutie! Thea loved coloring on her hands and arms, too, when she was about that age.

I get nervous when it's too quiet

How do you get him to hold still for a picture without going into auto-smile? That contrite face is the best part.
Haha! Adorable! And thankfully, non-permanent on the skin.
Found a book for him:
I Ain't Gonna Paint No More!
Here's hoping it wasn't a Sharpie! So much for being caught "red-handed," eh?
Bless his heart.
He looks so subdued and so contrite.
What a love. Such a special child. It is such a heart warmer that the worst sin he has committed in his lifetime is inking.
I grew up in a world where we didn't have markers. All families had matches lying around for the lighting of stoves, the bathroom heater, "smokes," etc. A different set of sins, entirely. Every child went through setting something alight when they were supposed to be napping.
I like the sins of this generation's 3 year olds far better.
ha! This is going to be a great story over Thanksgiving someday. You'll have to pull out this photo and pass it around the table. Bonus points if a beau is present.
At least he didn't eat it!
Love it. He so cute. I remember Thea drawing on her arms a couple of years ago as well.
That's classic. Hard to be angry at someone so cute!
