Raaaawr!!!!

At the African Art Museum on Saturday, the kids got their faces painted for the first time. They matched the manimals they saw, and really got into character.

Party foul

What does this look like to you?

What if you saw it at a party and it was next to the stereo and the only food the hosts had out was bowls of chips and salsa scattered throughout the house? At a glance, would you think it was, maybe, candied peanuts or some kind of dried fruit? Or would you know it was potpourri BEFORE you tried to eat it?

Yeah, me neither.

Yesterday

Liam was much more comfortable around the pretty girl manimals. They
are adorable, aren't they?

Aaagh, nature!!

A baby possum was in my yard when I went home at lunch today. It hissed at me threateningly and made weird guttural noises as it backed into the fence. A little unnerving, and yet, still adorable. What makes babies — even kind of ugly, hissing, threatening babies — so irresistible?

I am Iron Man

My friend Abigail has said she'll start a blog if I agree to blog daily. Bless her heart. I really do seem to need prodding. So far 2009 has left me a bit speechless. But I'm ready to take it to the mat.

Or whatever.

UPDATE: And indeed Abigail did start a blog!
