I took the kids to their first art opening, at the Smithsonian's African Art Museum. There were people dressed to the nines, fancy food, and an open bar. A very grown-up event. And then you have me and my two monkeys. We had a blast.
For the most part, Liam and Thea behaved incredibly well, especially since they were the only kids there and the adults in the room weren't expecting to have to watch out for little ones. At one point, a woman irritated me because she cut in front of me in the food line when I turned around to say something to the kids. In front of her was a guy who dropped some tongs into some kind of sauce, and then just kind of shrugged and walked away. I said to her, "I'm glad it wasn't my kids who did that." She replied, "Yeah, but if your kids had done that, I bet they would have asked for some help cleaning it up."
That was funny, and a good reminder that sometimes people are more myopic than assholes.

Liam has the best face EVER.
Thank you! They crack me up.
I think they were the unsung darlings of the event.
