The kids' school got free tickets to a football game from the local university, so my neighbor and I decided to take advantage of it. The team's mascot is a turtle. I love the absurdity of their slogan: "FEAR THE TURTLE."
We had a great time, but it was unusually cold and drizzly so we only lasted into the second quarter before abandoning the stadium and heading back to the fantastic, slow-cooked roast we had warming the house. The kids (all five of them) made their own Shirley Temples while the grownups drank martinis.

Even with the cold that was a blast and coming home to the roast we had slow cooking was the perfect greeting to a chilly and rainy day.
