Here's why:
1. Blogger increasingly sucks. It choked when I tried to give a post the title "I <3 Pinterest." I'm assuming the caret was verboten. Seriously? No "<3"? And have you looked at the HTML after you create a post in compose mode? MESSY.
Relatedly, are you on Pinterest? It's basically a visual bookmarking site, a place where you can share cool things that you find around the interwebs. I totally dig it. If you'd like an invitation, let me know!
2. The mobile experience is prohibitively abysmal. It's almost impossible to use without making me curse at something, and there's no way to back-date a post.
3. I'm still really ticked off at Google over them ditching Reader's social features. Here's a more coherent rant about why than I can provide right now.
Can anyone think of a reason not to switch?

I've been thinking of switching, too - except that I'm totally intimidated by it. I agree with everything you've said - as an example I tried to to use an apostrophe in the title and it showed up with a big ol' "nbsp&" visible in the title once it published. But here's actually my biggest concern - Google as the owner of Blogger has been interfering with what images some bloggers put up, and I don't appreciate the censorship. Blah.
The only reason I'd say you shouldn't is that blogger has a community. Wordpress, in every other aspect, is far superior. It's just as easy to use, more customizable, has tons of amazing plug-ins... I could make a huge list. Stop thinking about it and do it already.
Robin, it is going to be a pain, and no ads on WordPress.coms so no more BlogHer. That said, I cannot take how much Blogger sucks anymore, for real.
Agreed, Wordpress has become far superior.
I have struggled with blogger's lack of mobile blogging friendliness for a long time. Why *not* move over? Because it's a time sink. But the tool that lets you do what you need is the one to ultimately invest in. I put off shifting my email to a cloud-based system because of the time factor. I put off reorganizing my retirement portolio for the same reason. I mean, who has the time? But it's a good question to ask, and you wouldn't be asking it if you didn't feel ready to think about what it meant to shift.
I hear you. But the more content we create, the harder it will be to move. So why not do it now? It'll only ever get harder.
Of course, you don't HAVE to move your content over. You could just have it in two places, right? (Not that I plan to do that.)
But to be candid, how much have the BlogHer ads ever done for you either in terms of building return readers (vs. random hits) or ad revenue? I've been thinking about that - I wouldn't lose that much, really. I think the biggest loss potential is in people who don't get the memo about the feedburner redirect.
Robin, I totally agree. Have you tried setting up a WordPress blog and pulling your content over to test? (They do it automagically.) It's not perfect, but it's really not bad. And the mobile app? SOOOOO NICE!!!!

I have been running on WordPress for years and love it. Switched from Blogger and never looked back.
