The Met has the coolest, craziest way of broadening the appeal of opera: they broadcast live performances in movie theaters across the country. I don't know if it's done everywhere, but the DC area is lucky enough to have several participating theaters to choose from.
Today we went to see Philip Glass's Satyagraha, an opera based on the life of Gandi. It was fantastic. I can't wait to see another performance.
